Vinos Pijoan

Pijoan is one of the family wineries that emerged with the great wave of Mexican wine. Created in 2002 by Pau Pijoan, a Mexican of Catalan origin, son of refugees from the Spanish Civil War, adopting the best of two worlds in taste and culture.

He worked as a veterinarian and livestock researcher until his 40’s, questioning at that time if he was really doing what he was passionate about. And it was at that age, when he took a course to make wine with Hugo D’Acosta…. The rest is history. A very fresh, inspiring and heartwarming story that you can share at your table.

The birth of a tradition
Pijoan is undoubtedly one of the region’s favorite winemaking houses, each label is the result of love for the product, the raw material and the environment. 15 years of making wines without added chemicals, trying to keep the ecosystem in balance, following the trend of natural wines, honest wines as they call them. This is what has led them to have a presence throughout Mexico and the United States, being served in various renowned restaurants, raising the Baja California wine standard very high.

Pijoan, a great small family business
Pau and the women in his life (mother, wife and daughters) are present in the names of the labels and with a specific role they play in what started as a small dream and is now a great family business: their success has been the result of dedication and consistency to offer us more than excellence in their product.

On this visit, we were welcomed by Silvana, who has been directly involved with her father in the winemaking process and looking for all kinds of sustainable improvements for the winery. She is aware that it is the responsibility of each company to give back to the Earth a little for the treasures and opportunities it gives us. Silvana also introduced us to her personal project: Árbol de Fuego, an incredible rosé wine.

Pijoan’s labels range in price from $280 to $800 Mexican pesos, with shipments throughout the country. Wines with a lot of soul, honest wines, that if you have not had the fortune to taste them, we recommend you not to wait any longer and be part of the great experience that surrounds them. Thank you for so much!
