Vinisterra is a winery that was founded in 2002, with the dynamic union between the businessman Guillermo Rodriguez and the winemaker Christoph Gaertner.

28 years ago, what began as a trip to Mexico to the emerging Valle de Guadalupe for Christoph, ended up becoming a life project, when he fell in love with our land, its goodness and of course, his Mexican wife.

These factors caused Christoph, originally from Switzerland, to move to Ensenada to work for a while in Santo Tomás wines together with Hugo D’Acosta. Until the day he met Guillermo, a local businessman who had his country house on a large plot of fertile land, which he saw great potential in, so he proposed to him to partner to create Vinisterra together.

With vineyards in the valleys of the region: Valle de Santo Tomás and Valle de Guadalupe, Vinisterra produces wines of minimal intervention, with great respect not only for the land, but also for the people who work it, trying to honor and highlight at all times their great work. From this, comes one of its most recognized wines: Pies de Tierra, which pays tribute to the farm worker. Its label features an illustration inspired by a photograph by Christoph, in which he portrayed one of his workers. Today, you can find the original photograph on one of the walls of the tasting room in the winery.

Vinisterra is undoubtedly synonymous with quality, experience and passion, proudly reflecting in each of its labels, the essence of the Baja California product.

We are very grateful to Mr. Gaertner and Miguel Olano, his publirrelacionista, for receiving us and treating us as attentively as always.
