We have all had or will have a life-changing trip. The one in this story was written in 1993, when Jorge Maciel visited Italy for the first time and fell in love with the magic of the world of wine, living it up close among vineyards.
After spending many years tasting and documenting a variety of wines, the foundations of Cava Maciel were laid in Jorge’s parents’ garage in 2000. This hobby, which became a passion, was enjoyed by family and friends who increasingly demanded more production. In 2006 he bought his land and after many years of effort, he built the winery in 2009 to fully dedicate himself to his project.
Jorge, an astronomy lover since he was a child, decided to translate his passion into the brand’s concept, giving it a unique personality and congruent with the environment, since all the labels have celestial names. Such as Alba, Apogeo, Luneo, Venus, Venus Rosa, Vía Láctea, Vino de Luna and Perigeo. And as a curious fact, Jorge told us that he chose not to include the grape selection on his labels, with the purpose that “people do not fall in love with them”, but with the process and result of each bottle of wine itself.
With a tasting room, a large terrace with one of the best panoramic views of San Antonio de las Minas, as well as the Baja Med concept restaurant that is opening, the history of Cava Maciel is another story of dreams, passion and success. Whether you taste their delicious wine right there, at home or even in The Bahamas, you will be able to feel the quality and excellence of Baja California wine on your palate.
